These things are just a hobby and I have a lousy memory. I'll try to spend some time figuring out what I did for freeplay. Selector leave alone if selecting properly Seventh Pic - Accumulator.
I'm afraid I have a ways to go to get this box working. I keep finding obvious problems like a loose ratchet wheel on the selector board, etc. So far, the motor runs and the turntable turns, but no action from the selector nor the mechanism that raises and lowers the selected tray. Occasionally, it will get in the mode of continuous cycling of extending a tray raising the turntable them immediately lowering it, repeating over and over again with no change in the selected tray.
The selections are not getting to the selection wheel that is chain driven. I'm going to have to take the time to understand how this box works juke and unfortunately, the manual gives a lot of details but no top down description of how it works. I searched for expert help in the Denver area to no avail, so I'll just have to take the time to figure it out. Best, Dave. I have one of them with free play.
Like Juke47, I wired a push button switch into the coin return button's linkage. I also have a toggle switch in series with the push button switch. With the toggle switch, I can select between coin only no free play , one push to equal a nickel, or one push to equal a quarter. In effect, the push button shorts the coin switch that is selected by the toggle switch. When activated, I push the coin return to get free plays.
Coins still work with free play activated, too. This is how I do it. I remove everything electrical and the small brake band. I remove the wood mechanism board. I spray it like crazy and use a toothbrush to scrub it. I try to be careful of the ammonia fumes even though I am outdoors. I hose the whole thing and go back for places I have missed. After the last hosing I blow it dry with air. I then, right away, use a fair amount of 20wt non detergent oil to lube everything that moves in operation.
I have been using Mobil 1 synthetic. I then allow it all to bake in the warm Arizona sun for the rest of the day.
