FAQ and Troubleshooting tips. All rights reserved. Drop shadow is an effect that you can easily apply to your objects or texts in Illustrator. I use this technique all the time to highlight text on my design.

An easy solution is to add drop shadow. You can add drop shadow in two steps, basically, just select the effect and adjust the settings. Windows or other versions can look different. As you can see, after you click on the Drop Shadow option, a setting box will appear and a standard drop shadow is added to your object, in my case, the text. There are a few things that you can change, including blending mode, the opacity of the shadow, X and Y offsets, Blurriness, and color of the shadow.

But feel free to experiment with the options to create different effects. You can adjust the Opacity of the shadow. The higher the value, the more obvious the effect.

The X and Y Offsets determine the direction and distance of the shadow. Choose the drop shadow mode and click OK. The drop shadow can be blended in a certain mode. The percentage of opacity you want for the drop shadow can be specified. The Offset X and the Offset Y are the same thing.

You can format text or WordArt by selecting it. Click the shadow style you want to use. You can adjust the settings in the Drop Shadow menu to your preferences, then click OK to apply the changes. Shadow effects preview the text when you rest your pointer on one of them.
